I’ve been searching for the perfect base layers for years now. I’ve settled on some that are good but not great and never quite perfect. My criteria is fairly simple: comfortable, sustainable, affordable. ARQ has been on my radar for a bit, at first for their kid offerings (for my daughter) and again when they launched adult versions of their beloved base layers. Most of all, I’ve admired the brand’s dedication to sustainability and also to showing the world that they can be worn by people of all ages, shapes and sizes. The inclusivity is appreciated and respected.

But it wasn’t until they launched them in black that I finally made a purchase and got them on my own body. I suspected they were awesome. Now I wish I hadn’t waited quite so long. The crop bralette was the first piece I put on and I wore it all day, slept in it and wore it for most of the next day… and again the following. Don’t worry, it’s been washed and is ready for its’ next wear. The high-rise undies and wide-strap bra are equally impressive. Now, I want to replace everything in my drawer with these. But I won’t do that—partially because they are currently sold out of my size in black and also because that’s completely irresponsible.

I also purchased some tanks and undies for my mini me and can report that they are both mama- and kid-approved. You can bet that when it comes to replace anything in our drawers that is worn out, I’ll be heading to ARQ again.

Producing high-quality, detailed garments in the USA is not always easy but we are grateful to have found suppliers who not only care about quality, but also care about ethical labor standards and cleaner manufacturing processes. We seek out sustainable fabrics, environmentally friendly dying processes for our custom dyed styles, and our clothes are designed to be versatile and durable. Fewer, better things for our children will help them to foster thoughtful habits toward a richer, more deliberate lifestyle.
